Mukul G Asher
Mukul G. Asher is a Professor in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. He received his PhD in Economics from Washington State University in 1972. In addition to India, Singapore and USA, he has also taught or researched in U.K., Sweden, Japan, Australia and Malaysia. He was previously a Fellow at Takshashila. His research has focused on fiscal reforms, India’s external economic policies, and pension reform in Asia.
Varun Ramachandra
Varun Ramachandra is currently a PhD candidate in the political science department at the University of Rochester. His research interests include observational causal inference, bayesian inference, statistical inference etc. He previously worked as a Research Analyst with Takshashila from 2014 to 2016 where he focused on using econometrics, causal inference and data science techniques to tackle public policy issues.
Rohan Joshi
Rohan Joshi was a Fellow at Takshashila focusing on Indian strategic affairs and foreign policy towards Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Middle East. He was also a contributing panel columnist at Pragati — The Indian National Interest Review.
Dr. Vinay K. Singh
Dr. Vinay K. Singh is an officer of the 1995 batch of Indian Revenue Service and has served in different capacities including postings as assessing officer, in the CBDT and in the Academy. Dr. Singh has done MBBS, MD Medicine, and a Masters in Public Finance and Public Administration.
Siddarth Gore
Siddarth Gore is currently working as a Senior Researcher at Ati Motors. He has a Masters in Computer Engineering and Economics. His research interests include the conceptualization, design and execution of solutions in the Embedded Systems domain to tackle public policy issues.
Sarah Farooqui
Sarah Farooqui is a Senior Policy Analyst at CBGA India where she co-leads the financial transparency work and engages closely with the Financial Transparency Coalition which works to curtail the illicit financial flows through promotion of a transparent, accountable and sustainable financial system. She was previously a researcher at Takshashila and went on to obtain a Master’s in Public Policy from the Blavatnik School, Oxford University.
Shahana Sheikh
Shahana Sheikh is an independent researcher and was previously a policy researcher in the areas of urban governance and public finance in India. She has a MPhil in Political Science from Yale University and also a Master’s in Public Policy from the LKY School, NUS. Her current research areas include understanding how new communication technologies are affecting the behaviour of political parties and of voters in India.

Dr. Sudha Ramachandran is an independent journalist and researcher based in Bangalore, India. She writes on South Asian political and security issues
Sumitha Narayanan Kutty
Sumitha Narayanan Kutty is a Leverhulme doctoral fellow in the Centre for Grand Strategy (CGS) at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London. She is also an adjunct research associate at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Singapore and research fellow, Project SEPAD. She works on issues related to security, foreign policy and rising powers with an empirical focus on South Asia, the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific.
Astha Rastogi
Astha Rastogi is Programme Manager for Defence and Foreign Affairs at the Takshashila Institution. She brings over seven years of experience in public policy, research, and programme management across sectors such as agriculture, health, education, and digital governance.
Shailesh Chitnis
Shailesh was a fellow with the High-Tech Geopolitics Programme at the Takshashila Institution. He is interested in policy issues involving business, technology, and government.
Saurabh Todi
Saurabh tracks the geopolitics of emerging technologies, especially in biotechnology and nuclear power. His research interests also include export controls, WMD issues, and the geostrategic dynamic between India, China, and the United States. He manages the Network for Advanced Study of Technology Geopolitics (NAST) Fellowship at the Takshashila Institution and is a consultant with Inklude Labs.
Anirudh Kanisetti
Anirudh Kanisetti is a Historian and Author, whose critically-acclaimed debut book, Lords of the Deccan: Southern India from the Chalukyas to the Cholas was published in 2022. Anirudh worked as a Researcher with the Takshashila Institution from 2017 to 2021.
Hemal Shah
Hemal Shah is currently the director for public policy at Gilead Sciences, Inc., focusing on international intellectual property (IP), trade and supply chain policy. Most recently, she served as director for emerging markets at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Innovation Policy Center (GIPC), focusing on India, Brazil, South Africa, and Russia. She was previously was a scholar with the Takshashila Institution, and a researcher with the United Nations Environment Program in Geneva.
V. Anantha Nageswaran
V. Anantha Nageswaran is the current Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) to the Government of India. He is an economist and has worked for Credit Suisse in Switzerland and Singapore, and for the Union Bank of Switzerland. He was previously a councillor and a co-founder of the Takshashila Institution.
Kabir Taneja
Kabir Taneja is currently a Fellow with the Strategic Studies programme at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF). He was previously a Research Scholar at Takshashila. His research focused on India’s relations with West Asia, specifically looking at the domestic political dynamics, terrorism, non-state militant actors and the general security paradigm of the region.
Tarun Sharma
Tarun Sharma has been responsible for strategic business development activities as well as research, knowledge management, review and drafting of policies relating to urban local development. He is the co-founder of Nagrika, a social enterprise working on urban policy research and practice. He has also worked with the Ministry of Urban Development and the Ministry of Housing on their flagship projects.
Ritwick Ghosh
Ritwick Ghosh is a post-doctoral researcher at the Arizona State Univeristy. He is an inter-disciplinary social scientist with expertise in agricultural governance, economics, and politics. Specifically, he examines the challenges in governing agri-environmental transitions, biodiversity losses on private lands, and climate mitigation.
Hamsini Hariharan
Hamsini Hariharan is a researcher and journalist. She has a Master of Laws in China Studies from Peking University and a Master's Degree focused in Geopolitics and International Relations from Manipal University. Hamsini worked as a Research Associate with Takshashila from 2016 to 2019.
Sushant K Singh
Sushant K Singh was a Fellow for Defence Policy at Takshashila. He is currently a Senior Fellow at Centre for Policy Research (CPR). He was a lecturer in political science at Yale University (Fall 2019, 2021) and the Deputy Editor of The Indian Express, reporting on strategic affairs, national security and international affairs. He won the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Prize for Excellence in Journalism for 2017 and 2018. Prior to becoming a journalist, he served in the Indian Army for two decades.
